Notice in this picture that there are shadows and less light in some places. We frequently think that things are dark and bleak. They usually are not. It is very common when times are tough that we look around and nothing makes sense or seems to be all dark. Then come the panic and dread. The feeling that it will last forever lies largely before us. I took this picture while I was on a bike ride. At intervals, there was a lot of darkness on the trail but the light was still shining above with an occasional cloud that would stop the sun’s light from reaching down. The light was still there though. Yes, sometimes we can’t see it because we have too many questions and until those questions are satisfied then we can not move forward, like a flat tire on a bike doesn’t go away until it is fixed. Look at how light the sunlight is though. It penetrates through the many trees and lands around us, in front of us even, we just have to walk towards it and be bathed in light. As we come to Jesus Christ and ask our sincere questions which are sometimes our burden in this life we will be bathed in light. We will then be able to continue until we step away from that light and have to repeat the process. This is called looking to God and living! Much like the people in old testament times, we think we know better and refuse to look in the right direction for our strength and answers. We also think that the answers will come right away. Occasionally that does not happen. We have to be patient and wait without cursing the events of our lives. Eventually, our stones will melt into glass. Not always easy. I have gone through this, multiple times, I can’t say I have always enjoyed this process. However, because of it I gained peace and isn’t that what we all long for in this world.
