Goals

For years I sat and watched others have goals and go on and do great things. I had a few goals of my own, that never came in to fruition, because I either feared or was too busy doing other things. I have wasted time and gone in circles more than I know I should have. I relate to this quote because I always said someday I will do ________! Finally I realized that there was a lot more inside of me that needed to be developed and some things kind of lead me to where I am now without me even thinking in that direction. For instance I always liked hats and wanted to wear them, but didn’t want to be too flashy, because I had a negative association with been flashy or overdressed. Some ladies got cancer at church and another lady wanted everybody to wear hats in solidarity for the cancer patients. I didn’t know how much fun it was until I tried it. Now you can’t stop me. This little thing that I was asked to do cascaded into look good feel good, get up and get ready for your day mantra. So everyday I got up and got dressed, fixed my hair and make-up and was ready for my day. It amazed me at what good that could do. I know I have my moments where I question why I am dressing up when I barely go anywhere. Well I found out that it changed my attitude about how I felt. With that going on the next cascade was now in the business area. I owned my own business but struggled doing much with it. I liked what I did but felt there was very little market for it and I was kind of busy doing other things and not devoting my time to it. Why? Because I had another interest that’s why. I have a degree in health and nutrition and essentially was enjoying spreading my knowledge online about what I had learned. Interestingly, I was doing Genetic genealogy and I combined the two for my business. I still do genealogy but that is more of a hobby than what I am doing now. If you would have asked me a year ago what I would be doing now, I would never have guessed it. So even if you don’t have a firm goal set down doesn’t mean that you won’t be led to where you need to be. Sometimes you have to be flexible and be led a little until you can figure it out for yourself. Then sometimes you have to take a few risks and go for it!!

UPDATE: May 27, 2019. After I wrote this I couldn’t keep going running my own business on zero money. I ended up getting a job as a substitute teacher then I got certified as a teacher and got a  job teaching 5th grade teacher. Again, I had to be flexible enough to be guided. I also had to take risks and be hurt a lot by everything. Point being is that I didn’t lay down and die, I got up and kept going. Desperation for been able to pay bills was the motivation. The substitute teaching job was fantastic and I thought I would end up teaching that class, however that didn’t happen. I had to go to a different school and be in the right place at the right time and ended up with a better situation for me. It was hard leaving my first babies who I loved so much and take on 140 more babies. Heavenly Father knows where we are needed most and will guide us there if we let him!!!
