Becoming.

Tough one!! In the scriptures we are told to look to Christ and be perfected in him. It even tells us how to do that. Look to him in every thought, a process that is very painstaking. In the New Testament we are taught to acquire, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, Godliness, brotherly kindness and charity. I think most people have faith. Some have a greater portion of faith in that they trust that whatever happens is what is supposed to happen and God is in control. Virtue is a little trickier these days, pure thoughts and clean actions. You can’t be virtuous with a sailors mouth!! Knowledge, we can’t be ignorant. We need to keep studying who God and Christ are and what they have done for us. Temperate I think this is my downfall. Restraining emotions is a big job. Then my other not so favorite, Patience. It is really difficult to sit still and know that he is God, allowing things to be or not to be. Godliness, well I suppose if I looked to him in more thoughts I might get there. Brotherly Kindness means understanding when others have let us down, which can be close to impossible some days. Charity, this one comes easier for me. I can always give and try to help others. I think becoming a person who does these things is a far better goal than becoming anything else. Lets choose those things that are lasting and will give us lasting joy!
