Anger

Yes, anger is a choice. It is a choice to follow Satan’s path. I know when I am in traffic and driving around I can become angry because some idiot cut me off or made some other boneheaded move. Yes,  it may be a long time habit of mine, but why should anything destroy my happiness though? When I was in a hit and run car accident last year I actually chose not to be angry at the person who hit me. I looked at the situation and determined that this was something I had to go through for a reason unknown to me. The fact that I didn’t know who this person was probably helped a lot. I know that there are some situations in my life that can really fire me up, but that is just it…it is the situation and not so much the person. Yes people can do and say mean things to us but the choice to be angry actually belongs to us!! Sometimes the other person is feeling stress and pressure that we cannot see or even know about. Sometimes they may say something that offends us deeply, but it is because of what we are going through at the time that would make us feel offended not actually what they are saying. When we are offended or ticked off we need to examine the cause of that emotion and not dissect the words of another. Once we figure out what offends us we can control our response. That gives us power. Does this come easy, I am afraid not!! However, when we look to God in all things we don’t have enough time to become offended or hurt and if we do feel hurt or offended God can help us learn the cause.
